After a career as a US Coast Guard officer, I became a teacher. I learned the power of the PLC process firsthand when my math team grew our students more than any other team, in any grade, in any tested subject in our 22,000-student school district. Now I train teachers and principals to utilize the PLC process effectively to ensure student learning in a collaborative culture with a focus on results. My work has been published with ASCD, Phi Delta Kappan, and Principal Leadership magazines, and I have 2 books: 1. Singletons in a PLC at Work was published in 2022 to help solo teachers find meaningful collaboration. 2. The PLC Dashboard was published in 2025 to help school leaders start and sustain the PLC process simply and effectively.
